01Overview

PSP MasterQ2 is built for more than basic equalization. PSP Audioware designed it as a creative tool for mixing and mastering, with a graph that shows the overall EQ curve alongside the response of each individual filter. The plugin runs at sample rates from 44.1kHz up to 768kHz, so it can be used in high-resolution sessions. Its filter set covers low and high cut, shelving and peaking bands, giving users control over tone at both precise and broad settings.

Filter Options and Sound Shaping

PSP MasterQ2 provides seven filters. The low cut and high cut filters come in 12, 24 and 36 dB per octave slopes. The low and high shelf filters can be switched to peaking mode, and three peaking bands cover the low-mid, middle and high-mid ranges. Frequency and Q are adjustable across a wide range on each filter.

The plugin also includes limiting and soft-clipping algorithms that help shape a signal and reduce digital peaks. Together, these tools let you use the EQ for corrective work or as a coloring processor on a mix bus or sound design element.

Precision and the Frequency Authentication Technique

According to PSP Audioware, all filters use 80-bit extended floating point calculations to limit accumulation errors. The developer says this keeps filters working correctly at very low frequencies, even with high gain and high Q settings.

PSP MasterQ2 also uses the company's proprietary Frequency Authentication Technique, or FAT. This double sampling method uses high order linear filters to avoid phase and linear errors in the audio band, and the developer states it does so without sample rate conversion artifacts.
