OTTX multiband compressor plugin interface by Rave Generation

OTTX: Multiband Upward & Downward Compressor by Rave Generation

OTTX is a 3-band multiband compressor plugin by Rave Generation that applies independent upward and downward compression to each band, with optional Inflator waveshaping for added harmonic density and loudness.

01Overview

OTTX splits the signal into Low, Mid and High bands using 24 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley crossover filters, then processes each band separately. Upward compression lifts quiet material while downward compression pulls back loud peaks, and each can be scaled from gentle to extreme. A wet/dry mix control supports parallel compression, and per-band Inflator waveshaping adds density and perceived loudness. The plugin ships as VST3 and AU for Windows 10/11 and macOS.

Multiband Dynamics with Upward and Downward Control

Each of the three bands has its own upward compression, which brings up quieter parts, and downward compression, which pushes down louder parts. Both are scalable from 0 to 200 percent, so you can move from subtle control to heavy squashing.

Threshold offset, downward ratio and makeup gain (-40 to +6 dB) are set per band, so the dynamics of each frequency range can be shaped independently. Global attack and release scaling lets you adjust timing for all bands at once.

Crossover, Waveshaping and Parallel Mixing

The crossover frequencies are adjustable: the Low/Mid split ranges from 28 to 148 Hz and the Mid/High split from 2000 to 3000 Hz. Per-band Inflator waveshaping adds harmonic density without traditional clipping, and the developer positions it as an alternative to standard saturation.

The wet/dry mix (0 to 100 percent) supports parallel compression, keeping transients while adding density. A sidechain high-pass filter (0 to 200 Hz) keeps sub-bass from causing pumping, and Smooth Mode switches to RMS detection with soft-knee compression for more transparent results. Smart Clip 0dB holds the output at or below digital full scale.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What formats does OTTX support?

OTTX is available as a VST3 and AU plugin. It is a 64-bit plugin.

Which operating systems can run OTTX?

OTTX runs on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and on macOS 10.13 or later, with native Apple Silicon support.

What do I need to use OTTX?

OTTX needs any VST3 or AU compatible DAW, an Intel Core i5 or AMD equivalent CPU at 2 GHz or faster, and at least 4 GB of RAM, with 8 GB recommended.

What is Smooth Mode in OTTX?

Smooth Mode switches the detection to RMS and applies soft-knee compression, which the developer describes as smoother and more transparent, making it suited to mastering or gentler processing.
