01Overview

The MF-107S Freqbox is a digital re-creation of the MF-107 Freqbox, a Moog analog effects pedal first introduced in 2007. The original combined a voltage-controlled oscillator, an envelope follower and a mixer, letting the dynamics of an input signal shape its own pitch and volume. The plugin keeps that character while adding stereo operation, multiple instances and saveable presets for use inside a DAW.

Sound and Character of the MF-107S Filter

Moog describes the MF-107S as a faithful recreation of the original pedal, aiming to capture its jagged, unpredictable tones as well as the way its parameters interact. The original design derived from Moog modular synthesizers, so it was built to process a wide range of sources, from guitar and voice to synthesizer and other audio.

Because the envelope follower lets input dynamics drive the oscillator, the effect responds to how a performance is played rather than behaving as a static filter. That makes it suited to sound design where the processed result should move with the source.

Routing, Stereo Operation and Presets

The plugin adds CV interconnectivity, so one Moogerfooger instance can modulate the parameters of another across a project. Digital attenuverters are placed on every CV input, and side-chain capabilities are included.

Stereo functionality and an extended feature set adapt the original hardware for modern sessions. Parameters can be automated, and presets can be saved and managed, which helps when recalling settings across a project.
