01Overview

The MF-101S is a digital re-creation of the MF-101 hardware pedal, introduced in 1998. The original combined an all-analog 4-pole lowpass filter with an envelope follower that moves the filter in response to the incoming signal. Bob Moog and his engineering team designed the MF-101 as a descendant of the original Moog modular synthesizers, meant for guitar, voice, synthesizer or other audio sources. The plugin keeps that design and adds stereo operation, presets and the ability to run several instances at once.

Filter Character and Envelope Follower

The MF-101S is built around a 4-pole lowpass filter, the same filter type found in the original hardware pedal. Paired with the envelope follower, the filter opens and closes based on the level of the input, creating movement that tracks your playing or the dynamics of a track.

Moog describes the goal of the plugin as recreating the warm, vibrant sound of the original and the way its parameters interact with one another. Because each parameter can be automated, you can shape how the filter responds over the length of a track.

Modular Control and Workflow

Like the other Moogerfooger plugins, the MF-101S supports CV interconnectivity. Each instance can modulate the parameters of another instance elsewhere in your project, which allows the effects to interact in the way the original pedals did when patched together.

Digital attenuverters are placed on every CV input, and side-chain capabilities are included, so you can scale and route modulation with precision. Presets can be saved and managed, and multiple instances can run in the same session.
