Two-Stage Limiting and Band Control
McDSP describes the first stage as a multi-band limiter with eight bands of active processing. Each band has its own gain and threshold (output ceiling) control, along with overall release time and limiter mode settings. A focus mode changes how each band tracks and limits the incoming signal.
The bands are edited from a response plot, large gain faders below it, and threshold markers aligned to each band's input meter. A Snap function sets multi-band thresholds to the current signal levels, and any band can be linked to another, soloed, or have its key input monitored.
The second stage, the Master Limiter, follows the ML4000 algorithm, which McDSP says is patented. Knee, mode and focus controls add further shaping options, and the plugin includes real-time analyzers and multiple metering sources.
