01Overview

The ML4000 is a high-resolution limiter and multi-band dynamics processor aimed at music, mastering, post and live sound. It is built from two plugins: ML1, a mastering limiter, and ML4, a multi-band gate, expander and compressor that feeds into the ML1 limiting algorithm. Limiting and Multi-Band Dynamics in One Plugin

The ML1 limiter uses a look-ahead brick wall design with several stages of limiting for peak detection. Its Knee and Mode controls let it respond from transparent to aggressive, depending on the material.

The ML4 section adds four bands, each with a gate, an expander that can work upward or downward, and a compressor. Crossover filters run at 24 dB/octave to limit signal leakage between bands, and each band offers several real-time meters for watching the dynamics.

Metering, Output Control and Analog Saturation

Output ceiling control, large meters and text level readouts make it straightforward to set final output levels. Simultaneous display of gate, expander and compressor curves in every band helps when adjusting several dynamics stages at once.

The plugin also includes analog saturation modelling and double precision processing, with zero-latency algorithms and a mono and stereo version available.
