01Overview

MFX Physiverbs is a pair of reverb plugins built around two engines from the ALM MFX multi-effect module and pedal. The Pocket PL8 is a harsh, metallic reverb based on an early digital reverb algorithm. The Slinky Reverb uses a loosely modeled spring reverb chamber to produce a boingy, dubby echo character. Both are presented in a simplified interface with the DSP code from the hardware carried over and expanded.

Pocket PL8 and Slinky Reverb Sound Character

Pocket PL8 aims for a metallic, aluminum-plate-like sound rooted in early digital reverb. Its standard controls cover reverb size, predelay, tightness and filtering, so you can shape how dense and bright the tail sounds.

Slinky Reverb targets the spring-reverb character associated with dub and boingy echo effects. Its length control can stretch the tail into echo territory, and damping and brightness controls change the timbre of the repeats.

Both plugins are inspired by pre-digital forms of artificial reverb, which makes them suited to effects that sound deliberately lo-fi rather than transparent.

Controls for Wet, Dry and Creative Effects

Each plugin has separate dry and wet controls, so you can blend the effect with the untreated signal. A freeze switch locks the current reverb tail for as long as possible, useful for sustained pads from a short sound.

Reverse and gate threshold controls add further creative options for building tails and cutting them off at set levels.
