01Overview

Metrum is a dedicated kick synthesizer from Vengeance Sound, designed for producers who want direct control over the top, middle and bottom of a kick. It comes with 330 kick drum presets, over 1,800 attack samples and more than 150 sine oscillator presets as starting points. Layers, envelopes and modulation are all shaped in one interface, and the plugin ships with built-in effects and a limiter for finishing the sound.

Layered Kick Sound Design and Modulation

Metrum builds each kick from layers. Every layer has its own filters, and the plugin includes three drive distortion models for adding grit. Realtime graphic envelopes show how each change shapes the sound, so you can see the envelope move as you adjust it.

The modulation matrix can reach every parameter in Metrum, and pitch and velocity routings are flexible enough to create tonal kicks you can play. A randomizer is included for generating unexpected starting points.

Each preset is assigned a mod wheel and three GUI controls, giving you a quick way to perform or tweak a sound without opening every module.

Effects, Samples and Expansion Library

Six built-in effects, a two-band parametric equalizer and an output limiter cover the processing side. The limiter can be switched off if you prefer to finish the sound elsewhere.

You can load your own WAV files by drag and drop or through the internal browser, so Metrum can work with the drum sounds you already use. Metrum Expansions add more kick material to the library.

All Metrum parameters are automatable from your host, and the developer describes the timing as 100% accurate.
