MasterMind is built for the last stage of production, where a mix is made louder, wider and tonally balanced before release. Its Optimizer section is designed to make a signal sound richer and bigger with a single adjustment, while the EQ Matching feature analyzes a reference track and adjusts your master toward its tonal profile. Automatic Optimization and EQ Matching

The Optimizer is the core of MasterMind. United Plugins developed an algorithm for it after researching a large amount of mastered material, and the developer describes its goal as making the signal richer, bigger and psychoacoustically better.

EQ Matching lets you load a reference track, loop it while the plugin analyzes your material, and then apply the match. Because the developer advises against overdoing it, the matching amount is best kept at around 20 to 30 percent. This feature can also help align the tonal balance of tracks on the same album.

Limiting, Width and Final EQ Controls

The limiter section includes a saturation module intended to glue the mix together. The stereo width is adjusted with a single knob. The EQ section is based on a classic American analogue equalizer design and adds tube saturation to the high and low curves.

The analysis section shows input, output and the signal between the EQ and limiter, so you can see the effect of each stage. The audio engine uses up to 16x oversampling to keep saturation free of digital artifacts.
