Kontour: Phase Modulation Synth by Native Instruments

Kontour's core is two sine oscillators with phase modulation, extensive wave-shaping and ring modulation. A precise, tunable comb filter and a flexible state variable filter feed into a feedback routing structure that builds complex harmonic textures.

Native Instruments describes the synth as highly responsive, reacting to even small parameter changes. That responsiveness suits sounds that need to change while you play, from delicate tones to aggressive, noisy patches.

The Performance View gathers the synth's controls into four Macro knobs for quick sound shaping during a session. Each Macro is mapped to several parameters, so one movement can change multiple aspects of the sound at once.

The Motion Recorder lets you record and automate custom modulations, timbre transitions and long evolving soundscapes. It is a practical option when you want movement that is more involved than a simple LFO.
