01Overview

InstaComposer 2 is aimed at producers who want to get musical ideas down quickly. It generates MIDI rather than audio, so the output can be routed to any instrument you own. The plugin works across several modes, including melody, bass, ostinato, pads, chords and drums. Generation Modes and Control Options

InstaComposer 2 offers several generation modes, including melodies, bass lines, ostinato, rhythmic patterns, pads, chords and drums. The developer says the Drums mode creates drum lines across different styles and complexities, while Pad 2 combines pad and chord modes for fuller sounds.

Control is handled through parameters for probability, complexity and variation. Scale support includes 22 additional scales compared with the original version, and a Chord Helper and Sustain parameter add further control over the output.

The plugin supports multiple time signatures, so you can work outside standard 4/4 when a part calls for it.

Workflow, Scenes and MIDI Routing

Eight scenes let you store variations and song sections within a single preset. Six tracks can be generated, and the developer states that five tracks can be generated simultaneously.

MIDI can be routed to virtual instruments through multi-track and multi-channel routing. Each track can also be saved separately. The built-in piano-roll editor lets you move, copy, delete and change the velocity of notes before export.

A trial version is available, though it only allows major chords.
