InstaComposer generates MIDI for up to five tracks: melody, rhythm, bass, pads and chords. Its behind-the-scenes decision matrix combines mathematical rules with musical knowledge to choose notes and harmonies.

You can shape the output with parameters in the bottom panel, including repetition probability, chord shape complexity, harmonic variation, strumming technique and note density. Sequences can be generated for one, some or all tracks, and the plugin follows your chosen scale, time signature and riff length.

The built-in piano-roll MIDI editor lets you move, copy, delete and change the velocity of notes before the MIDI leaves the plugin. Tracks can be dragged into your DAW or routed to VSTi instruments. Factory presets provide motifs to start from.

InstaScale is a MIDI processor with only 16 keys. Each key is a smart key that plays different notes depending on the scale, the position of the last note and the action assigned to the key. All the scales included in the plugin are shown on the interface, which makes it useful for studying scales and modes.

The plugin works as a VST instrument with MIDI routing or as an AU MIDI effect, so you can play any instrument or sound in your DAW. A home feature lets you stay on one note and hear how it relates to the rest of the scale, which supports ear training. The developer also suggests using a drum pad or kit mapped to the keys for experimentation.
