01Overview

InPhase is built for phase problems that show up during recording and mixing. It can align snare and overhead microphones, line up a DI bass signal with a miked bass, and correct phase shift caused by wiring issues. Waves positions it as a general-purpose studio tool for any phase manipulation task. The plugin offers visual waveform and correlation displays so you can see the phase relationship as you adjust it.

Best for

  • Drum mic phase alignment
  • Miked bass and DI blending
  • Stereo phase correction
  • Overhead to drum alignment
  • Live mixing phase fixes

Phase Alignment Controls and Visual Tools

InPhase gives you two ways to correct phase. You can work across the full signal or use dual filters to correct phase only at specific frequencies. Delay-only control handles timing differences without changing the phase curve.

Waveforms can be moved visually along a timeline, and the two waveform displays update in real time as you process. A correlation meter shows how far tracks are in or out of phase, and a phase shift curve plots the correction across the frequency range.

Routing, Monitoring and Versions

On a stereo track, InPhase corrects left/right phase issues directly. Using the sidechain, you can align a track to another track, such as overheads against a drum bus.

Monitoring options cover the stereo mix, the mono mix, or individual channels, which helps when checking how a correction translates. Waves offers mono and stereo versions, plus a dedicated version for live mixing.
