Parallel Compression Built In
Baby Audio says IHNY-2 hosts its own parallel signal chain, so you do not need to set up extra routing in your DAW. The plugin splits the incoming audio into a dry copy and a wet copy. An XY pad lets you balance the two signals on one axis and set the compression amount of the wet signal on the other, so the main controls move together in a single gesture.
An autogain algorithm keeps the output level consistent as you move the node around the pad, and an Autogain slider lets you adjust that behavior. An AGR readout shows the adjusted gain reduction, which takes the current gain reduction and dry/wet balance into account. Baby Audio recommends aiming for AGR values between -10 and -20 as a starting point.
