IHNY-2 splits the incoming audio into a dry copy, left untouched, and a wet copy that receives the compression. You balance the two on the vertical axis of the XY pad and set the wet compression amount on the horizontal axis.

The developer describes the compression style as clinical and aggressive, combining digital precision with analog-inspired non-linearity. The Harmonics control adds saturation that grows with gain reduction, so more heavily compressed parts are saturated harder. The Shape control adds a custom smiley EQ curve to bring out lows and highs in the compressed signal.

The Tweak Panel holds the detailed controls. Punch emphasizes attack transients in the compressed signal, which helps it cut through at high compression levels. Lo + Hi Preserve keeps low and high frequencies from being compressed beyond set cutoff points, and Tilt shifts compression weight toward the low or high end.

An autogain algorithm keeps output level consistent as you move the node, and an AGR readout shows the adjusted gain reduction. Baby Audio suggests aiming for AGR levels between -10 and -20 as a starting point. Oversampling can be set to 1x, 2x or 4x, with 1x recommended for better CPU performance.
