Organic Stutter Character and Sound
The defining idea behind Solar Cycle is the stutter. KLANG developed it from their Korg Stage Echo, where they became fond of a heavily saturated repeat. Their goal was to let a single repetition work as an instrument in its own right, so the sound is built around that repeated, saturated moment.
The developer describes the result as a wavy, organic feel. Because the stutter is the core of the instrument, it is best suited to rhythmic and textural parts where repetition is the point, rather than to plain sustained chords or single-note lines.
