01Overview

GotoEQ is an EQ plugin from Klevgrand, built as a new evolution of a vintage passive tube-based program equalizer. It keeps the character of that design, including the classic low-end boost and cut approach, and adds dynamic processing to the mid bands. Continuous frequency selection on all four bands lets you place each filter where you need it, and the plugin includes a preset library and metering for input or output levels.

Classic Shelving Character With Dynamic Mid Bands

The low and high shelving filters model a classic passive EQ unit and include separate boost and attenuation controls. Setting both boost and attenuation above 0 dB on a shelf reproduces the 'Pultec' style of simultaneous boost and cut that the developer highlights for low-end shaping.

The two parametric mid bands work differently. Each has gain, Q and dynamic attenuation controls, and a compression algorithm makes these bands react to the signal rather than applying a fixed cut. This is the main point of difference from a static EQ.

Workflow Controls and Metering

Global input and output gain controls range from +/-24 dB, so you can set the right level before the dynamic bands start working. A high-pass filter offers 20, 40 or 80 Hz, and there is a global bypass as well as individual band bypass for A/B checks.

Peak metering can be set to read the input or the output, which helps when matching levels around the plugin.
