01Overview

God Mode is built around a push-pull approach to saturation. You boost the frequencies you want to color, then decide how much to pull back, so the saturation lands only where you choose. The developer describes the method as inspired by the Pultec passive tube EQ, which boosted a frequency range through its tube circuit and then pulled it back to smooth the response. Its node EQ graph and linear phase filters give you detailed control over the coloration of a sound.

Push and pull saturation control

The workflow starts by pushing the frequencies you want to saturate more. A shelf can lift the highs, and a peak can emphasize a particular color or resonance. Because those frequencies are driven harder into the saturation algorithm, they take on more of its character.

The second step is the pull. You decide whether to pull back the boosted frequencies and by how much. This sets the amount of coloration and lets you keep the overall frequency balance of the track intact.

The graph is designed to be quick to work with, and each band is set in the same node-based view.

Live mode, side-chain drive and wet/dry panning

Beyond the core saturation, God Mode includes a live recording mode that uses regular filters without latency in place of the linear phase filters. A side-chain input creates rhythmic distortion effects, and the wet and dry signals can be panned independently.

One of the three drive options is an enhanced version of the Tape Analog VM algorithm also found in the developer's Bad Tape plugin. The developer says it can add subtle saturation on a master bus and heavy distortion on bass, vocals and synths.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What formats does God Mode support?

God Mode is available in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats. It runs on Windows and macOS and is 64-bit only.

Does God Mode have a live mode for recording?

Yes. Its live mode uses regular filters without latency instead of linear phase filters, which makes it suitable for recording.

What is the push and pull technology in God Mode?

You push the frequencies you want to saturate by boosting them, then choose whether and how much to pull them back. The method is inspired by the Pultec EQ and gives control over where coloration is applied.

Is there a trial version?

Yes, God Mode has a trial version.
