How Bass XXL Shapes the Low End

Bass XXL generates harmonics from a root frequency that you can set in hertz, as a root note, or by MIDI follow. The Harmonics control sets how intensely the signal is saturated, and oversampling can be engaged for the highest sound quality.

The harmonic signal is mixed in parallel through the Boost control, so the dry signal is not altered. Solo lets you hear only the generated harmonics, which helps when setting the balance. Pre-Delay offsets the harmonics from the transient of the dry signal, which the developer says helps keep the original attack intact.

Controls for Filtering, Range and Stereo Image

Slope determines how gradually or precisely the harmonic layer is filtered in and out. Range sets how far the harmonics extend, from staying within the lower frequencies to reaching into the mid frequencies for a more audible effect.

The Mono control forces the harmonic signal to mono at 100%, or keeps the stereo image of the dry signal at 0%. The View Selector switches between a zoomed spectrogram of the low end and a full-spectrum view, with the dry signal shown in blue and the harmonics in white.
