Sound Engine and Synthesis Controls

Flashback runs two multisample engines, A and B, which can be layered or split on the keyboard with automatic assignment via MIDI. Each engine has ADSR envelopes for amplitude, filter and pitch, along with LFOs for filter, volume and pitch. The LFOs can sync to tempo and include rate and depth controls.

The filter is an analog-modeled ladder design with low-pass, high-pass and band-pass modes, selectable at 12 or 24 dB per octave. Portamento, velocity-to-volume and velocity-to-filter curve adjustments give you additional control over how notes respond to playing dynamics.

Arpeggiator and Effects for Retro Production

The arpeggiator supports up to 32 steps, synced to tempo, with step modulation for velocity, note length and pitch. You can save your own patterns or load the factory patterns, and step increment and swing settings are included.

The FX engine offers nine swappable effects: reverb, chorus/flanger, phaser, a four-band EQ, compressor, bit crusher, delay, saturation and a stereo expander. All plugin controls can be MIDI mapped with a right-click, and the sound library can be relocated to any internal or external drive and reconnected from the settings icon.
