Fables is a cinematic Kontakt instrument from Native Instruments that blends orchestral and hybrid ensemble textures, including strings, choirs, woodwinds and waterphone, across 16 hand-played instruments.
Fables is a sample-based instrument built for scoring and electronic production. It layers acoustic ensembles and synthetic timbres through a three-layer engine, so you can shape evolving pads and textures. The library draws on the Lores legacy and is developed under the Evolution Series label. Its polyphonic aftertouch lets you shape each voice individually during performance.
Fables combines organic and synthetic tones. The library includes string sections, male and female choirs, woodwinds, tuned percussion, pads, low brass, French horn ensembles and a waterphone.
The instruments are played by performers and offer over 400 articulations, which gives you a wide range of attack and effect options. Blending and layering instruments across the three-layer engine is the main way to build new textures.
Polyphonic aftertouch lets each held note be shaped on its own. Native Instruments says this allows you to control volume, panning, filters, pitch and modulation per voice.
That per-note control suits performance and sustained cinematic passages, where small changes in dynamics and timbre carry the phrase.
