Oscillator and Filter Character

The filter is the centerpiece of FabFilter One. The developer describes it as a fat, smooth self-oscillating low-pass filter tuned to recall the character of a classic analog synthesizer. Self-oscillation lets the filter act as a sine-like tone source when resonance is pushed to its limit.

The oscillator is built to be aliasing-free and provides triangle, sawtooth and square waveforms with pulse width modulation. Frequency and filter cut-off can both be modulated, and a white/pink noise generator adds further sound-shaping material.

Modulation, Controls and Workflow

The LFO includes tempo sync and triangle and square waveforms, with an adjustable wave balance that lets you choose any shape between sawtooth and triangle. The envelope generator offers the usual ADSR controls plus an extra Hold setting that extends how long a note sustains.
