01Overview

Evolve Velvet Lite focuses on warm, vintage textures. Its sound library mixes acoustic instruments, electric keyboards and lo-fi tones with sources drawn from 1970s and 1980s synths. Each of the four layers can hold either a sample or a synth oscillator, so you can build a sound from several sources at once. The plugin ships with 75 presets and a randomise function for starting points, and it is designed to produce smooth, expressive tones for chord and pad work.

Sound Sources and the Quad-Layer Engine

The core of Evolve Velvet Lite is its quad-layer engine. Each of the four layers can load one of 125 sample-based sources or a synth oscillator.

Sampled layers give you playback direction, tone and keytracking controls. Synth layers offer an oscillator shape slider with sine, triangle, saw, square and pulse options, plus unison and detune. Every layer has pitch, fine tuning, velocity sensitivity, panning and volume controls.

The XY Pad can blend between the four sound sources in Sounds mode, or modulate any available parameter in FX mode.

Macro Effects for Texture and Character

Four macro controls shape the output. Soften reduces transient and harsh frequencies. Warmth adds subtle saturation and gentle harmonics. Sway adds wow and flutter pitch modulation. Haze applies a lo-fi hall reverb.

The settings page adds voice count from 1 to 32, legato, glide time up to 5000 ms, and macro routing before or after the effects. The developer describes the macros as crafted specifically for the Velvet sound.
