01Overview

Evolve Dark Matter Lite is built around dense, low-end sound sources and synthesis. Each of its four layers can hold either a sample from a library of 125 sources or a synth oscillator, so you can stack and blend textures in one instrument. Excite Audio positions it for dark drum and bass, atmospheric techno and experimental electronic music. The plugin also includes 75 presets and a randomise function for starting points.

Four-Layer Engine and XY Pad Control

The core of the instrument is its quad-layer engine. Each of the four layers (A, B, C, D) can play a sample or a synth oscillator. Sample layers offer play direction, tone and keytracking controls. Synth layers include an oscillator shape slider and unison detuning. Every layer also provides pitch and fine tuning, velocity sensitivity, panning and volume.

The XY Pad works in two modes. In Sounds mode it blends between the four sound sources. In FX mode it modulates the parameters of a preset. Clicking the dice on a layer picks a random sample, while the header dice randomises sounds, parameters and effects together.

Macro Effects for Texture and Character

Four macro effects shape the output. Quanta combines wavy modulation with downsampling into discrete packets. Entropy adds heavy distortion, noise and chaos. Orbit pairs a slow phaser with faster flutter-style pitch modulation. Infinite combines an endless delay with a large reverb.

The settings page adds voice count from 1 to 32, legato, glide time up to 5000 ms, pitch bend range and macro routing before or after the effects.
