01Overview

Cinematique Instruments describes Ensemblia 2: Orchestral Longs as the sound of a modern chamber orchestra, in the spirit of the minimalism of Steve Reich and Michael Nyman. The instrument is built around seven separate instrument tracks that can be assigned from a large pool of orchestral and non-orchestral sounds. Its voicing engine distributes the notes you play across these tracks, so the ensemble can produce polyphonic arrangements, patterns and textures.

Sound, Instruments and Voicing Engine

The library includes 32 instruments, among them viola, violin, cello and double bass in solo and trio setups, along with tuba, trombones, horn, bass clarinet, flute, several saxophones, electric guitar, bowed guitars, bowed psaltery and three church organ registers.

The Smart Voicing Engine decides which of your played notes each track plays. You can set this individually for each instrument and for each step, which makes it possible to divide voices in a way that stays realistic as an ensemble.

The developer notes that Ensemblia does not play prefabricated phrases or MIDI files. The patterns come from the notes you play.

Mixer, Presets and Browsing

The mixer offers seven sound slots and one master track. Each has a 3-band EQ, an attack/decay compressor, length, tuning, and reverb and delay amounts. Each instrument also has 3D panning.

The instrument includes 68 presets and the preset browser lists over 190 pre-assembled patterns. Four units share one interface, so you can switch between four different pattern sets on the fly.

The instrument is generally compatible with Native Instruments NKS for automation and control.
