Charakter Piano Collection: Six Character Pianos for Kontakt

The collection covers a range of tones. Curbed Piano places a thick layer of felt between the hammer and the strings, producing a warm, damped sound with a prominent hammer noise. Intimate+ adds a hammer sound layer with controls for its volume, decay and tone, plus optional reverse sounds. Intimate Piano was recorded with a field recorder lying on the ground beside an upright, at low velocity levels.

Practice Piano is recorded with a raw, vibrating character and a Granny option that morphs it toward an old, slightly detuned Yamaha. Upright Piano is a bright, high-quality upright intended for contemporary use with minimal editing. Soundboard Piano is built from carefully sampled layers, with a morph knob that shifts its tone.

Each piano offers high and low frequency control. Practice Piano and Intimate Piano include an Add Noise knob for organic string noise at the attack. Upright Piano has a Warmth control, Intimate Piano has an Add Pot FX knob for a percussive attack, and Soundboard Piano includes Felt Morph and Add Perc controls, the latter layering twelve percussive sounds across the keyboard range.

All six pianos come with eight reverbs: Plate, Chamber, Analog, Room, Church, Space, Rich and Stage.
