Pitch Engines and Harmony Control
Harmonitron uses quad polyphonic pitch shifting, so up to four different pitch settings can run at the same time. Each engine transposes in semitones across a range from -24 to +24, which covers two octaves in both directions. The global detune control adds up to plus or minus 50 cents, which thickens a single voice or widens a harmony.
Each pitch voice has its own volume and pan control, along with the dry signal. This makes it practical to place a low octave to one side and a high voice to the other, or to keep the dry signal dominant under a subtle layer of harmony.
The swell (slow attack) option softens the onset of the effected sound, and the low-pass filter removes highs from the processed signal. Kuassa notes that the swell feature can produce an organ or synth-like tone from a guitar.
