01Overview

DROffline MkII is the batch companion to MAAT's DRMeter MkII real-time plugin. It is built to measure files rather than a live session, so you can evaluate one file or an entire directory while you keep working. The app reports mandated R 128 and A/85 loudness values alongside DRi dynamic range, PSR and channel-specific readings. It writes plain text and tab-delimited logs, which can include optional engineer and studio metadata. It is available for Windows and macOS as a standalone application.

Loudness, Dynamic Range and Peak Measurements

DROffline MkII covers the mandated R 128 and A/85 parameters, including integrated loudness, loudness range, and maximum true peak, momentary and short-term values. The developer says it also provides the official DRi dynamic range measurement, which is designed to show how much dynamic range has been reduced by heavy compression and limiting rather than to check broadcast compliance.

The app adds supplemental metrics such as Sample Peak to Short-Term Loudness Ratio (PSR), sample peak values and RMS readings. Most measurements can be broken out per channel, so left and right can be compared directly.

Batch Processing and Reporting

You can drag and drop a single file or a whole directory into the app. Measurements run in the background, so the app stays out of your way while you work in other software.

The text logs are useful as documentation for clients, distribution checks or post-production records. The file metadata section lists the file name, absolute path, format, sample rate, word length and bits used. DROffline MkII works with LPCM formats (WAV, BWF, AIFF) and lossless FLAC and ALAC files at sample rates from 44.1 to 384 kHz.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What do I need to run DROffline MkII?

DROffline MkII runs as a standalone application on macOS 10.9 or newer (64-bit, Universal Binary 2) and on Windows 7 or newer (32-bit and 64-bit). It is not offered as a DAW plugin.

Which audio formats does DROffline MkII support?

It supports LPCM files (WAV, BWF and AIFF) and lossless FLAC and ALAC files. Sample rates from 44.1 to 384 kHz and word lengths from 16 to 24-bit fixed plus 32-bit floating-point are supported.

Can DROffline MkII measure many files at once?

Yes. You can measure a single file or an entire directory in batch mode, and the measurements run in the background while you continue to work.

What is the difference between DRi and R 128 loudness?

According to the developer, R 128 is designed to control loudness for broadcast and commercials, while DRi measures how much dynamic range has been reduced in a mix, which is more relevant to music engineers.
