01Overview

DistoBlast is an effects plugin from Audio Blast built around distortion. It groups nine distortion modes in one interface, ranging from overdrive-style saturation to harsher fuzz and clipping. Each mode includes Dry/Wet blend, Punch compression and post-distortion filtering, so you can control how much of the effect reaches the mix and how the result is tonally shaped. A pre-filter section lets you decide which part of the signal enters the distortion stage. The plugin runs on Windows and macOS.

Distortion Modes and the QuadraFuzz Engine

DistoBlast provides nine distortion modes: Overdrive, Hot Valve, Clip Inferno, UltraCrunch, Bit Reducer, TurboFuzz, RageClip, Brutal Bill and QuadraFuzz. The developer describes the range as running from smooth analog-style overdrive to FM-style wave shaping.

The QuadraFuzz mode is a multiband distortion engine with separate Drive controls for Low, Mid-Low, Mid-High and High frequencies. This lets you push distortion harder in one part of the spectrum while leaving other ranges cleaner.

Each distortion type includes a Dry/Wet blend, which keeps some of the unprocessed signal, and Punch compression for controlling the dynamics of the distorted sound.

Pre-Filter, Presets and Workflow

The pre-filter section offers Lowpass, Highpass, Bandpass and LP2 filters. These act on the signal before it reaches the distortion circuit, which changes how the distortion responds to different frequencies.

A built-in preset manager lets you save and recall settings, with a preset browser and quick-access functions. The interface can be resized from 75% to 200% and its visual style changed. Every parameter is automatable in compatible host DAWs, and Ctrl+click or double-click resets any knob to its default value.
