Sound, articulations and recording approach
Cinematique Instruments says the instrument was recorded by plucking, stroking and strumming every string to capture the range of sounds, noises and articulations the zither can produce.
The main patches cover all 36 strings in four round robin variations, with up to four dynamic layers. The 31 accompaniment strings also have a muted variation. The five articulations are Finger, Plec, Muted, Reverse and Bow.
The notes were captured with two microphones: a large-diaphragm condenser pair and a classic dynamic microphone.
