01Overview

Chorus Ensembler is a chorus and vibrato effect from Audiority that simulates the BBD (bucket-brigade device) circuit of the Boss CE-1, a mid-1970s pedal. Audiority notes that the CE-1 was the first product Roland marketed under the Boss name. The plugin focuses on the warm, organic modulation that made the original pedal popular, with controls for intensity, vibrato rate and depth, and a preamp-only mode for use as a gain stage.

Analog chorus character and stereo modes

The core of Chorus Ensembler is its BBD analog chorus and vibrato simulation, modeled on the Boss CE-1. Chorus Intensity, Vibrato Rate and Depth, and Input Impedance let you shape the modulation and how the input interacts with the signal.

The plugin offers Classic and Full Stereo modes. In the classic pedal design, a stereo chorus splits dry signal on the left channel and wet signal on the right. Audiority adds a STEREO switch that applies full chorus to both channels, and a Stereo Spread control to set the width.

Controls, tempo sync and workflow

Chorus Ensembler includes Tempo Sync for locking modulation to your project tempo, along with Pre and Post effect gain staging and a Mix control for blending the processed signal with the dry signal.

You can switch between Preamp only and Effect operative modes, which is useful when you want to use the plugin as a gain or tone stage without the chorus. The interface is resizable, so you can adjust the window to your screen.
