01Overview

Chief Chorus is a BBD analog chorus plugin from Audiority, built as a simulation of a late-1970s chorus pedal. The original pedal was the first compact chorus from its manufacturer and was produced for 13 years. Audiority has kept its distinctive character while adding controls that the hardware did not have, including tempo sync, stereo spread and trimmers for the maximum rate and depth. The plugin can also be set up to work as a vibrato.

Analog chorus sound and character

The plugin emulates the bucket-brigade delay circuit of the original pedal, with the reduced bandwidth that gives analog chorus its softer top end. Rate and Depth controls set the speed and intensity of the modulation, while the Mix control balances the processed signal against the dry sound.

Pre and Post effect gain controls let you manage the level going into and out of the effect, and level meters show the signal as you adjust it.

Stereo, tempo sync and trimmers

Stereo Spread widens the chorus across the stereo field, and the Chorus Blend Trimmer sets how much of the effect is heard. Maximum Rate and Depth Trimmers limit the range of the Rate and Depth controls, which is useful when you want to keep the modulation within a set range.

Tempo Sync locks the modulation rate to your project tempo. The interface is resizable, so you can adjust its size to suit your screen.
