01Overview

Cache works by constantly recording whatever audio reaches it and processing that material live. Each of its 12 effects can sit on its own MIDI key zone, so a producer can play transitions, stutters and sweeps from the keyboard. Sinevibes positions it for live performance, studio production, remixing and sound design. It is distributed as a plugin in VST3, AU and AAX formats for Windows, macOS and Linux, and a trial is available.

Sound Manipulation and Buffer-Based Effects

Cache's core is a buffer that records the incoming signal at all times, and its algorithms act on that recorded material. The included algorithms are Loop, Repeat, Ping-Pong, Robotize, Stretch, Stop, Reverse, Rewind, Scratch, Bend, Roll Up and Roll Down. Because the effects run on the buffer rather than on a fixed sound, the results depend on what was just played, which suits fills, breakdowns and glitch-style transitions.

Sinevibes describes the processing as high-quality, using spline interpolation, fade envelopes and two-pole gate switches to keep playback smooth when effects change.

Workflow with MIDI Key Zones

Each of the 12 effects can be assigned to its own MIDI key zone, with sample-level precision on triggering. Algorithms are selected individually for each zone, so several effects can be active at the same time and combined into custom sequences.

This makes Cache a controller-driven tool: a keyboard or pad controller sends MIDI note events, and the note position determines which manipulation is applied to the audio passing through the plugin.

Cache supports mono to mono, mono to stereo and stereo to stereo channel configurations, so it can be used on a range of source material and track layouts.
