Diffusion, binaural expansion and sound character
The core of Vague is its chain of 16 all-pass comb filter stages. More stages make the signal blurrier, reducing definition and sharpness in transients. Sinevibes adds binaural expansion through alternating, stereo-opposed time offsets in the individual all-pass stages, which gives the output a wider, three-dimensional quality.
The four output snapshots are a distinctive part of the design. Crossfading between them changes the diffusion density and also granulates the timeline, which is useful for scrubbing-style textures rather than static reverb tails.
