01Overview

Liny EQ is an 8-band graphic equalizer built on a linear phase kernel, so it processes the signal without phase distortion. Latency is kept under 3 milliseconds (128 samples at 44.1 kHz), with minimal pre-ringing. Gain can be set across a range of ±40 dB, and four filter shapes let you draw custom EQ curves. The interface offers a real-time spectrum analyzer, a spectrogram and a peak meter, all of which can be arranged to suit your workflow.

Linear Phase EQ Sound and Visual Feedback

Liny EQ uses a linear phase design, which avoids the phase shifts that conventional EQs introduce. The developer highlights its very short latency and minimal pre-ringing artefacts, which matter most when EQ is applied to material where timing and transients need to stay intact.

The display side is central to the plugin. An exact EQ curve view shows precisely what each band is doing, while a real-time spectrum analyzer and a high resolution color and greyscale spectrogram show the frequency content over time. A high resolution color peak meter completes the picture.

Automatic gain compensation helps you judge changes to the curve without a level jump skewing your decisions.

Stereo Processing, Channel Options and Dynamic EQ

Liny EQ comes in single and dual channel versions. The dual channel version gives independent settings for left and right, or for mid and side, which allows spectral stereo widening or narrowing. Advanced channel linking options let you decide how the two sides are tied together.

The EQ curve can be updated continuously through MIDI or automation, and a Mix control is included. Blue Cat Audio notes that this makes dynamic equalization easier when the plugin is combined with its control generation plug-ins.

The user interface is highly customizable, with multiple display sizes so you can show only the views you need.
