Faithful Circuit Modeling and Sound
KORG built the ARP ODYSSEY plugin on a hardware reproduction of the 1972 synth. Instead of simulating the output sound alone, the plugin uses digital equivalents of the original components to rebuild the same signal path. KORG says this captures the complex range of sounds and parameter interactions associated with the original instrument.
The three filter generations of the original are included, each with different characteristics. A DRIVE switch pushes the sound into extreme and wild territory. Velocity can now modulate the VCF and VCA, which the hardware did not offer.
