XO Expansion: UK Garage is a preset expansion pack by XLN Audio for XO, providing 75 editable UK Garage drum patterns and a set of genre-specific samples.
XO Expansion: UK Garage focuses on the drum side of UK Garage, built around shuffled grooves, swinging kicks and syncopated rhythms. Each of its 75 presets can be edited in the XO sequencer, so you can use them as written or change individual steps and parts. The pack also includes 150+ genre-specific samples, and the XO engine allows you to generate further variations from the patterns.
The pack is designed around the drum sound of classic 1990s UK Garage and modern takes on the style. Its kicks, snares and hi-hats are arranged into patterns meant to bounce, shuffle and drive a track forward.
The rhythms sit between tight programming and a looser, human feel, which gives the 2-step patterns their characteristic tension. The developer describes the presets as genre-accurate and club-ready.
Because the XO expansions are fully editable sequences, you can examine how each beat is built and adjust it. Every preset is mix-ready, so it can be used directly or customized in the XO sequencer.
The included one-shot samples are hand-picked for the genre, so you can build your own patterns from the same material as the presets.
