XO Expansion: Preheated is an expansion pack for XLN Audio's XO that adds 80 beat presets and 147 one-shot samples. It is built around hip-hop, lo-fi and Nu Jazz-style breaks and grooves.
XO Expansion: Preheated is a preset and sample pack for XO, the beat-building instrument from XLN Audio. The pack is designed as a starting point: each of its 80 presets is a complete groove that loads into XO's built-in rhythm sequencer, ready to play. The developer describes the collection as covering soul and jazz, hip-hop, lo-fi and more experimental styles. Because the sounds are editable, you can keep the parts you like and replace the rest.
The pack mixes electronic and organic breaks with a Nu Jazz vibe. XLN Audio describes the signature beats and drum samples as crispy, hip-hop-style backbeats, along with jazzy chord material and textures.
The 147 one-shot samples give you additional elements to build with, so the grooves can serve as a base for your own arrangements.
Each preset loads into XO's built-in rhythm sequencer. You can tweak the beats or swap out any sound for another sample from your XO library. XLN Audio notes that replacements are organized by how well they fit the original groove.
This makes the pack useful as a quick-start tool: you can change a preset until it fits your track rather than building the pattern from scratch.
