03In depth

Tech House Drum Sounds and Patterns

The pack draws on the sound of classic drum machines. XLN Audio says the 909, 808, 707 and 606 shaped the genre's kick, clap and hat signatures, and this expansion follows that lineage.

The developer says the sounds are resampled and processed with modulation and saturation, and that FM-synthesized percussion adds a harder, metallic edge. Kicks are sub-heavy, and the acoustic tops are described as punchy enough to cut through a loud room.

Editing Presets in XO's Sequencer

Each pattern is a fully editable sequence rather than a static loop. Because the beats are laid out in XO's sequencer, you can see how each one is built and change individual hits.

The presets are described as mix-ready, so you can load one and use it directly, or customize and tweak every aspect of the beat. The 205 samples are hand-picked one-shots, which gives you material to rebuild patterns from scratch.
