XO Expansion: Synth-Pop is a preset expansion pack from XLN Audio for its XO beat-making software. It offers 75 editable grooves based on 80s synth-pop drum sounds.
XO Expansion: Synth-Pop brings 80s-style rhythm programming to XO. The expansion draws on classic synth-pop sound design and updates it for current productions. Its 75 presets are programmed grooves you can load as they are or edit step by step in the XO sequencer. Alongside the presets, the pack includes 150+ genre-specific samples and the option to generate variations with the XO engine. The developer describes the presets as mix-ready.
Synth-Pop focuses on the rhythmic side of 80s electronic pop. XLN Audio says the sounds include punchy drum machines, gated reverbs and tightly quantized claps, which are the elements most associated with that era.
Because the presets are fully editable, you can see how each beat is built. The developer says XO expansions reveal the anatomy of each sequence, which makes it easier to adapt a groove rather than only copy it.
The pack contains 75 UK Garage flavored presets that run inside the XO sequencer. These are meant as starting points for fast writing, and you can change any step.
The expansion also includes 150+ handcrafted, genre-specific samples. XLN Audio says each sample set was hand-picked for the style. The XO engine can generate infinite variations from the presets, so one groove can lead to several arrangements.
