01Overview

Neon Dreams is built around the sound of 1980s soundtracks and modern synthwave. Its presets combine synth arpeggios, hard-hitting kick drums and gated snares, and the loops are designed to be mix-ready and fully editable. The expansion was created in collaboration with the artist Starcadian, the first collaboration between him and XLN Audio after years of using XLN plugins. It requires XO to run.

03In depth

Sound and Character of the Neon Dreams Presets

The presets focus on nostalgia-driven synth arpeggios, punchy gated snares and driving beats. XLN Audio says the sounds are inspired by artists such as Kavinsky, Giorgio Moroder, John Carpenter, Justice, The Midnight, Com Truise and SebastiAn.

The expansion aims to place your tracks in a neon-lit 1980s setting, with the warm, grainy character associated with VHS and 16mm film. Because the presets are fully editable, you can start from these sounds and shape them to fit your own arrangement.

Presets, Samples and Workflow in XO

Neon Dreams includes 96 presets and 221 curated one-shot samples. The loops are mix-ready, so they can drop into a track with minimal adjustment, and each one can be edited further inside XO.

The pack is a good fit for producers making synthwave, retro electronic or 80s-influenced pop who want a fast route to a specific era-driven palette without building every sound from scratch.
