03In depth

Editable indie pop drum patterns in XO

XLN Audio describes these expansions as fully editable sequences that reveal how each beat is built. The 75 presets open in the XO sequencer, where you can adjust individual hits, rework the groove, and change the sounds behind each pattern.

The developer says the pack is tailored to indie hooks and dreamy choruses. XO's sample swap and filtering tools let you replace sounds with similar samples from your own collection or narrow the sample range to create new variations.

Samples and variations from the XO engine

The expansion includes more than 150 genre-specific one-shot samples, which XLN Audio says were hand-picked for indie pop. These samples can be used directly in XO or mixed with your own library.

The presets are also a starting point for variation. Because the engine can generate changes from each pattern, you can build several drum parts from one preset without starting from scratch.
