03In depth

What is inside the Drum n Bass expansion

The pack includes 75 Drum n Bass flavored presets and more than 160 handcrafted, genre-specific samples. Each preset is a fully editable XO sequence, so you can see how the beat is built and change individual steps, sounds and patterns.

The samples are curated 1-shots chosen for the genre, covering elements such as snares, hi-hats, percussion and atmospheric textures. Because XO can swap sounds for similar samples, you can also audition variations of a preset without rebuilding it from scratch.

Working with the presets in XO

The presets are mix-ready, so you can use them as they are or customize every aspect of the beat in the XO sequencer. XLN Audio notes that XO's features let you swap sounds for similar samples at the click of a button, switch to sounds from your own collection, or filter on a specific range to create variations.

XLN Audio also says the XO engine can generate a very large number of variations from the same material.
