01Overview

The Dark Trap Life Vol. 2 is the sequel to the Dark Trap Life series. Resonance Sound built the 64 presets around trap and hip-hop production, drawing on the sound of current genre hits. The pack covers pads, bells, leads, basses, keys, plucks, drums and synths, so producers can source most of a beat's sound palette from a single set. Each patch includes macro and modwheel modulation for adjusting the sound quickly within a track.

Sound Palette and Preset Breakdown

The pack is organized by category: 13 leads, 12 plucks, 9 pads, 8 synths, 7 keys, 5 bells, 4 basses, 4 drums and 2 808s. Resonance Sound says the team analyzed popular tracks from artists and producers in the genre and aimed to capture their signature sounds, which it describes as gloomy pads, organic bells, mystical leads, hard basses and unique synths.

The drums included are for demonstration purposes only, so the pack is best used for its synth sounds rather than as a drum kit.

Workflow with MIDI Files and Modulation

The pack includes 30 MIDI files that can be loaded into any DAW, giving producers a starting point for melodies and chords. Once a preset is selected, the full macro and modwheel modulation lets you reshape the sound to fit a beat with a few adjustments.

The pack is built for Xfer Serum only. You need Serum version 1.363 or later to load the patches.
