01Overview

AZS Halcyon for Serum Vol. 1 is built for producers who already work in Serum and want a ready-made palette of sounds. Resonance Sound describes the bank as using Serum's hybrid engine to combine wavetable detail with analog-style waveforms and filters, ranging from warm, lush tones to digital, edgy ones. The patches are arranged by sound type, so you can move quickly from a bass to a lead, pad or keys part within the same session.

Sound Types and Character in the Serum Presets

Basses are a major focus of the bank. The developer groups them into acid, FM, analog and complex wave styles, which gives you a range from classic squelchy lines to more layered, modern textures.

Trance plucks and supersaws are also well represented, along with keys and synth brass. Resonance Sound notes that some pads are inspired by well-known 1990s digital keyboards, while others lean warmer and more analog in character.

The bank is aimed at dance music, with trance and house as the main targets.

Modulation, Macros and Included MIDI Kits

Each of the 128 patches includes a modwheel assignment and two macro assignments, so you can add tonal variation without building the modulation from scratch. The developer says levels were set so the patches should not clip internally or in your DAW.

The package also includes 8 basic MIDI construction kits, shown in the demo, which are royalty free and can be used in your own productions.
