01Overview

The Dark Trap Life Vol. 1 for Serum is aimed at producers making trap and related beats. Resonance Sound built the pack around the core sounds of the genre: gritty 808s, dark basses, washed-out bells, pads, leads and plucks. The developer describes the sounds as dark and atmospheric, yet aggressive and mysterious. The pack is designed for Xfer Serum and includes MIDI files that can be dragged into your DAW to help you start a track with a suitable melody or pattern.

Sound Categories and Preset Contents

The pack contains 64 Serum presets organized into clear categories: 4 808s, 4 basses, 5 bells, 2 FX, 9 keys, 10 leads, 8 pads, 16 plucks and 6 synths. The largest group is plucks, which suits melodic trap hooks and rhythmic layers. The 808 and bass presets give you low-end sounds to build around, while the bells and pads add texture and atmosphere.

Resonance Sound says the sounds are not limited to dark trap. The developer notes they can also fit pop, EDM, dubstep, future bass and hybrid trap productions.

Using the MIDI Files for Trap Production

The pack includes 25 MIDI files that can be dragged and dropped into your DAW. They are intended to help you quickly find the vibe of a track and move from an idea to a working arrangement. Because the MIDI files are separate from the presets, you can pair any MIDI file with any preset and adjust the sound in Serum to suit your project.

The drum sounds used in the demonstrations are for demonstration purposes only and are not included as part of the preset pack, so you will need your own drum samples for finished beats.
