MPC Expansion - Rhythm Source is a preset expansion pack from Native Instruments for the MPC platform. It offers custom-recorded drum breaks, bass and vocal sounds aimed at jungle and dub production.
Rhythm Source is an expansion pack for MPC software and standalone MPC hardware. Native Instruments built it around the drum breaks and low-end weight associated with UK soundsystem and junglist culture. The pack covers rolling breakbeats, syncopated rhythms and tempo variations, along with decaying samples, classic vocals and deep bass. It is aimed at producers working on high-energy dub and jungle tracks in MPC.
The core of the pack is a set of custom-recorded iconic drum breaks. Native Instruments says these are paired with powerful low-end bass to capture the weight of UK soundsystem playback.
The material includes decaying samples and deep bass pressure, which suit dub-style space and heavy low end in jungle arrangements.
Rhythm Source includes rolling breakbeats and syncopated rhythms, including slow and fast variations. The developer describes the tempo changes as dynamic, so the material can move between feels within a single arrangement.
Classic vocal samples round out the pack, giving producers hooks and textures to layer over the drum patterns.
