Expansion - Black Arc is a preset expansion pack from Native Instruments with reggae, dub and dubstep sounds. It includes MASCHINE and BATTERY drum kits and MASSIVE presets.
Black Arc draws on reggae and dub, from rocksteady-era rhythms and off-beat accents to dub effects and sirens. Its sampled acoustic instruments, guitar licks and syncopated phrases target classic reggae and dub. Newer MASSIVE presets extend the palette toward dub techno, dubstep and contemporary reggae, and effects kits cover delays, sirens and vocal call-outs.
The expansion's drum content is organized into 53 MASCHINE kits and 61 BATTERY kits, covering reggae- and dub-inspired styles. The drum breakdown includes 86 kicks, 95 snares, 9 claps, 19 cymbals, 91 hi hats, 59 percussion sounds, 8 shakers and 7 toms.
Because the loops and samples work in any DAW, the rhythm material can be used outside the MASCHINE and BATTERY workflow as well.
Native Instruments describes the 42 MASSIVE presets as a way to add a contemporary electronic edge to reggae-derived material. They are aimed at dub techno, dubstep and modern reggae production.
The pack also includes premium synth samples and a set of effects kits for dub sirens, delays and vocal call-outs, which can be layered into a reggae or dub arrangement.
