03In depth

Drum Kits and Sound Character

The pack contains three drum kits, one of which is an all-copper shell kit from Q Drum Co. The developer notes that copper shells are known for a punchy, controlled tone that cuts through dense distorted guitars.

The cymbal selection includes a 20-inch Crash of Doom and two hi-hat options, a 15-inch K Light and a 16-inch K Sweet. Three additional snare drums and three additional kick drums give you more options for tuning and layering the core kits.

Recording Room and Groove Library

The drums were captured in the live room at Middle Farm Studios, which opened in 2010. The room has a pitched ceiling and stone walls. The recording used the studio's microphones, outboard gear and Trident Series 70 console, and the drums were recorded in collaboration with producer and studio owner Peter Miles.

Beyond the drums, the pack includes 287 grooves across seven groove palettes. These are intended for metal, rock, alternative, doom and prog, and can serve as a starting point for a new idea or as additions to an existing production.
