01Overview

BFD Maple Custom Absolute gives BFD3 users a Yamaha maple drum kit built around kick and tom samples. The developer describes the kit as warm and refined, and says it was recorded in similar studio conditions to BFD Percussion and other Yamaha-based expansions such as BFD Oak Custom and the Mapleworks kits. The pack is aimed at producers who want a versatile acoustic kit inside BFD3 rather than a specialist sound.

Maple Kick and Toms for Multiple Genres

The core of the pack is a maple kick and a set of toms. Resonance-focused drum sounds like these are usually a starting point for many styles, and BFD says the kit suits all genres. The developer names pop, indie, rock, jazz, classic metal and fusion as particularly good fits.

The kick can be played with two beater types, which gives you a choice of attack and character without loading a different kit. The toms are sampled with sticks, mallets and rods, so you can shift between hard and soft articulations within the same kit.

Bonus Snare and Drum Case Samples

A Yamaha fibreglass snare is included as a bonus. It is taken from BFD Signature Snares Vol.1 and has a reduced-detail sound, making it a different option from the maple shells in the main kit.

The pack also includes bonus samples of the drum cases, which can add mechanical texture to your recordings. BFD3 is required to load and play the kit, and the install needs about 4 GB of hard drive space along with an internet connection for download and authorization.
